Admin Question by alan c: why cant scyther learn fly in platinum?
in pokemon platinum why cant scyther learn fly. i traind him only because he is bug and flying and just when i got the hm fly hes unable to learn it. i wasted my time training him and now i need a flying pokemon. does anyone know any. i need a pokemon thats has two types like fly and grass or something like that. thx

none of the bug/flying type pokemon can use fly, thats just how it is

As the first answer said, none of the Bug/Flying Pokemon can learn Fly. Think about the logic; how the hell are you supposed to sit on a praying mantis and have it fly you places?
Really, if you just want it to be an HM slave and not a part of your team, go catch a Staravia, or a Starly if you can’t find one. If I remember correctly, you can find wild Staravia at a half-decent level by that point in the game. I have a Staraptor (last in the evo-line) on my team, and once it’s trained up it works well enough.
However, if you want a different Pokemon, here’s a list of the Pokemon that can learn Fly. If you click the sprite then you will go to its page and you can see where to catch it.
